This new shadow box commission is on it’s way to Australia. I had a great time putting it together and right in the middle of it’s production I came up with an idea for a NEW ShadowBox. Perhaps I’ll unveil it soon…. and as always, am thankful and grateful that there are fans of my artwork out there. You too can commission a shadow box or some other original art work from my online store.

I had a great time putting it together and as always, am thankful and grateful that there are fans of my artwork out there. Here’s a peak at the process that I went through in the creation of this new commissioned image of Oola the dancer from Jabba’s palace and Salacious Crumb. I started out with some quick sketches of the pose.

When I FINALLY got a pose I felt was decent, I enlarged it to make draw in the details. Once the pencil sketch was done I used a light table to make an nice clean ink drawing.

I scanned the ink drawing into the computer and then used illustrator to convert the bitmap lines to vector lines and then I colored it in Flash. I had done some other illustrations of Jabba’s dancers, so I re-used one of the backgrounds for this illustration.

This was an experiment in doing a digital commission. You can order your own commissioned art in my store, or buy some of my licensed Star Wars art from Zazzle.

Here’s a new shadow box commission of Indiana Jones racing through the Mayan Temple with the golden fertility idol. I thought that I would show a bit about the process of creating this shadow box. I started by making these quick sketches to get the angle of the temple hallway and the general pose for Indy.

Once I had the pose in mind I sketched a more detailed version of Indy and then inked it on a light box.

After it was all inked I colored it with Prismacolor markers and cut it out. Then I drew, colored and cut out all the pieces for the background images. Each image is put onto a piece of Plexiglass and then into the shadow box. You can see the final product in the flash file below and rotate it around. You can also order your own commission in the store.

So, let’s go ahead and start this month better than I ended last month. I got a bit wrapped up in things and didn’t get around to posting anything new up here. The good news is that I’m working on some fun projects, the bad news is that I can’t say everything about them just yet (nothing major, I just don’t want to spoil the fun). So on to the post for today.
Here’s some images of a new Shadow Box commission. I had lots of fun putting this one together. When I was first getting ready to draw again, I was testing out my new markers and I drew a picture of Luke in Stormtrooper armor. I sure am glad that I got to drawing again. My style has really improved!

There are 5 layers in this Shadowbox. One day I’ll figure out how to properly photograph them. ;]
