Big Bad Wolf

Writing by Spencer on Thursday, 30 of July , 2009 at 3:30 pm

Here’s a fun video that I found today about testing to see how a vortex cannon stands up to the legend of the Big Bad Wolf and the houses of Straw, Wood, and Bricks.  :D

I Know… Now Available!

Writing by Spencer on Wednesday, 29 of July , 2009 at 10:34 pm

I am so very pleased to announce that the pre-order for my new Star Wars print is online now.  So to re-cap, there were 250 prints made for my first print which debuted at Celebration Japan.  They cost around $50/print.  There are only going to be 100 prints made for this print selling at $100/print.  Since they were pre-selling some of the prints at the Comic-Con they didn’t put the full amount up to order online.  Last Friday the online pre-order went live and the adjusted available online total was at 58 prints.  Current online total is at 35 prints available.  We have to pre-sell 50 of the prints to get the whole edition made and it looks like we’re about half way there!  So go over to Acme and buy a print!

SDCC ‘09: Zazzle Poster

Writing by Spencer on Wednesday, 22 of July , 2009 at 8:11 am

Well, I’m off.  I’m on the road to San Diego and I just had to stay up late to get one last poster printed.  I have been working to create some new Star Wars illustrations for the last few months.  I’ve written about it, but I haven’t explained much.  To help this slow moving project get a bit of a jump start I have made a poster to advertise that my art will be featured in the Star Wars Gallery section of the online, on demand printing company Zazzle.  I don’t have an official launch date yet, but I’m going to be hanging this huge poster up at the convention!

SDCC ‘09: I Know

Writing by Spencer on Tuesday, 21 of July , 2009 at 8:41 pm

I am super pleased to announce that I have been approved to make a new Star Wars print!  It was this time last year that I was leaving Celebration Japan and heading to the San Diego Comic-Con.  Another big change for me is that last year was my first time in Artist Alley at SDCC and this year I’ll be in a booth on the exhibit floor as a guest of Wildstar/Tempest at booth #4613.  Things are looking good!

When I went to Japan I made 250 of my “Sorry About the Mess” prints and sold them for $55.00.  For this new print titled, “I Know”, I will only be making 100 prints.  With that decrease in volume, the price of the print has increased to $100.00.  I will have a work print on display at my booth and the prints will be available to pre-buy at the Acme Archives booth as well as online (the link isn’t up yet).  So here’s the print.

Here’s a photo of the print.

and of course, a video that I made to promote it.

SDCC ‘09: Post Cards

Writing by Spencer on Monday, 20 of July , 2009 at 2:12 pm

Wow! The convention starts on Wednesday! Here are some post cards that I’ll have at my table. This first card is a re-print of the card that I made last year to take to Celebration Japan. The next card is a promotional card for a fan site that I’ll be creating new character illustrations for. The last card is the super sized 5.5×8.5 postcard promotion for my new project s.a.m.M13. (this one’s SO awesome I might have to charge for it!)

SDCC ‘09: LOST Shakespearian Ballads

Writing by Spencer on Saturday, 18 of July , 2009 at 12:47 pm

I’ve written before about the theme I chose for my Beatles Print, but wanted to explain a bit more.  The first song that came to my mind was, “She Loves You”.  I thought it would be fun to mix classic literature with Beatles and considered drawing something from Tom Sawyer, but the song “She Loves You” made me think of Romeo and Juliet.  Thus began the Shakespeare and Beatles Mash-up.  The Lost Shakespearian Ballads cover consist of the following;

The Tempest - “Do you want to know a secret” - The Tempest is a story of a man and his daughter who are banished to an island where he learns magic to control the islands inhabitants and controls a tempest to sink a ship and bring more people to the island.

Romeo & Juliet - “She loves you” - Romeo loves Juliet, and he thinks his lost his love (but I sawyer yesterday!). The attraction between these two is pure magnetism.

Hamlet - “Let it be” - The ghost of Hamlet’s father returns to visit him and sheppards him in a quest. The communication between them is the flame that drives Hamlet to the brink of madness. As he ponders, “To be, or not to be” the Beatles may have answered, “Let it be”.

available for $20.00 signed at my booth #4613.  Get it?  good.

SDCC ‘09: Sketch Book

Writing by Spencer on Friday, 17 of July , 2009 at 8:56 pm

As I’ve mentioned before, I started doing art work and illustration work AGAIN back in December of 2007 and had a MARVELOUS first year.  I like to think of 2008 as my rookie year as an illustrator,  (yes, after 10 years doing graphics and Flash animation, I’m a rookie).  So, for the Phoenix Comicon in January of 2009, I put together my very first sketch book.  My intent was to show some of the development drawing created over the past year like a behind the scenes retrospective.  I will have these sketch books on hand at the San Diego Comic-Con and will be selling them for $5.00.  They have a space on the front of the book that I will draw a sketch on for another $5.00.  A nice little sampling of my sketches in full color with a personally requested sketch on the front for $10.00.  You can see a few of the sketches that I did at the Phoenix Comicon here.

SDCC ‘09: Exclusive Give Away

Writing by Spencer on Thursday, 16 of July , 2009 at 2:53 pm

This year at the San Diego Comic-Con I will be a guest of the Wildstar/Tempest Booth #4613 with Heather Theurer and Russell Walks.  Each of us has created an image with the theme of “Angels” for prints that will be given away during the convention.  Each day will be a new print with any left overs being available on Sunday.  We’ll only have about 25 prints/artist so stop by our booth and grab one.

SDCC ‘09: The White Album

Writing by Spencer on Thursday, 16 of July , 2009 at 1:01 pm

I’ll be putting up a few posts about the different items I’ll have at my table at the San Diego Comic-Con.  The first item is the White Album.  I posted a video and some information about the book and would like to add to that this little map.  All 13 artists that contributed to this book will be at the Convention making it possible to get an autograph from every one of them.  So check out the map, buy the book for $20, and then get it signed!  You can go over to flickr.com and download the large size image to print off and have on hand at the convention.
