Somewhere along the road I forgot to mention that I drew 100 sketch cards for the Empire Strikes Back trading card set. I’ve stumbled upon the idea of making the card sets a bit more collectible by making a bit of a puzzle out of them. So I drew a boarder around each card and then drew 9 versions of each characters. I did 11 characters, making for 99 cards, with 1 little Yoda card left over. I also have my 6 return cards that I have yet to draw anything on at all! I’ll probably make a shadow box out of them and have them for sale at the Star Wars Celebration V in August.

I am pleased to announce the completion of my 2nd Sketch book. The Adventures of Spencer Brinkerhoff III Year Two will have it’s debut at WonderCon in San Francisco on April 2nd. It can be ordered through my online store or picked up in person at the convention. Just like last years sketch book, it is 14 5″ x 7.5″ full color pages of sketches an illustrations available for only $5.00. There is a sketch card spot on the front of the book for a commission black and white sketch for an additional $5.00.

I am busy at work to meet my deadline for the new Topps WideVision Clone Wars trading card set. I’m working to do something special with this set, just like my previous sketch card work. I haven’t submitted anything for approval yet, so here’s a sneak peak at a shadow box idea I’m playing with…

Here is a work in progress of a new Star Wars image I’m making. I started out with a rough gesture pose, then made a clean pencil drawing. I used a light table to make the inked drawing which I scanned and colored in Flash. I’m using Flash so that I can scale the image to what ever size I need to with out losing any image quality.
