Chewbacca in Color

Writing by Spencer on Thursday, 16 of April , 2009 at 2:32 pm

Here’s an update with the color version of Chewbacca.  I colored the characters normal and then am experimenting with color tinting in Photoshop.

Everyday Wookie

Writing by Spencer on Tuesday, 14 of April , 2009 at 11:30 am

When I made the Domo-Bacca images last year I thought it would be funny to have Domo just wearing the Chewbacca t-shirt.  I was looking up some information yesterday and found the shirt for sale! Go out and pay $30.00 and be the Wookie that you’ve always wanted to be.

Hunter Prey

Writing by Spencer on Monday, 13 of April , 2009 at 12:31 pm

This is NOT a Star Wars Movie, but it looks like it’s filled with some of those famous Bounty Hunters.  I wrote a bit about Sandy Collora and his new film in a previous post here.  Well, he has just finished making an original feature film called Hunter Prey.  He likes to describe it as being like Predator crossed with ConAir.

This is from the movies website.  “The movie is about a prison ship that’s crashed on an alien world, and the soldiers who have to track down an alien convict with serious survival skills. Filmed on location in the Mexican desert, the movie is awash in gorgeous landscapes and Collora’s costume design is incredible. Hunter Prey is a true labor of love, made entirely as an indie film on a very modest budget. And it looks exciting as hell - as well as having a retro-1970s feel.”  Originally found at io9.com.

A Touch of Golden Sun

Writing by Spencer on Monday, 13 of April , 2009 at 9:43 am

Here’s another Flash Mob showing up at a station to surprise everyone with their dance moves.  At first I thought that this was just another silly video of people being thrilled and surprised by huge crowds of dancers.  Then, as the music started, it became a bit more enjoyable because of the song choice.  When I was younger, my family would travel to California almost every year for summer vacation.  We had a big blue station wagon that we would fold the seats down and make a big bed in the back.  We would put up curtains in the window lay back listening to the 8 track while Dad drove.  The Sound of Music was one of the albums we would listen to, so just hearing this song and seeing the fun brought back some good memories.

This video is a promotion stunt for a Belgian television program, where they are looking for someone to play the leading role, in the musical of “The Sound of Music”.

Work in Progress

Writing by Spencer on Friday, 10 of April , 2009 at 3:42 pm

I’m not quite sure how this whole piece is going to come together yet, but I thought that I’d post the drawing that I did today.  I’m preparing to be at the San Diego ComicCon in July and want to have some new art to sell.  I’ll have sketch cards, and sketch books, and a few other things but I really want to have some new Star Wars art.  I’ve contacted the Star Wars Print license holder and hopefully I can make this print a follow up to my Celebration Japan print.  We’ll see…

Jaxxon the Star Wars Rabbit

Writing by Spencer on Thursday, 9 of April , 2009 at 5:00 pm

Jaxxon was created for use in Marvel Star Wars’ Star Wars 8: Eight for Aduba-3. This big bunny was created in homage to Warner Brothers cartoon star Bugs Bunny who often addressed strangers with the generic nickname “Jackson” in his 1940s cartoons.  I thought it would be funny to use Jaxxon for an Easter card.

Healthy Options

Writing by Spencer on Wednesday, 8 of April , 2009 at 4:08 pm

I am so very pleased in this day and age of food preservatives and artificial coloring that we can find good, healthy natural food options.  Like VEGETARIAN ice cream and (wait for it…………….) VEGETARIAN green beans!

Seasoned Youth

Writing by Spencer on Wednesday, 8 of April , 2009 at 1:47 pm

Reid Richards aka Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four makes gray hair pretty cool with those racing stripes running right above his ears.  I’ve noticed that I’m getting more and more gray hair, but not like Mr. Fantastic.  My gray hairs make racing stripes on the sides of my NECK!  I posted on Facebook that I was getting gray hair and many people commented that it was the kids that were aging me.  I think that the stress that comes with Fatherhood and adult life can cause gray hair, but it can also keep me young.  Here is my evidence that I am actually a Seasoned Youth!

The Duct Tape Bandits rummage through the recycle bin for resource to manufacture Intergalactic Cruisers.

Who can argue with a boy that wants to dress up the Snow White costume with a pirate hat?

What are you going to do with a boy that dresses as Tinkerbell and goes out to fly on the trampoline?  Maybe I’m going gray from playing with all these kids!
