I just completed a commissioned illustration of Darth Maul. I know that it can get pretty expensive to go out and buy a custom matte and frame for artwork so I decided to work this commission in reverse. I went to Michael’s Craft Store and found a great frame on sale that had a double matte in it already. It cost about $15.00. THEN I drew the picture so that it all worked together.

We decided to participate in a church activity to make a little commercial with a scripture message. The scripture that we chose if from the first part of the Book of Mormon where the prophet Lehi and his family were traveling in the wilderness leaving Jerusalem. We decided that we had plenty of people in the house to recreate this ancient exodus.
Due to hardships in their families, of my wife’s sisters and their children have moved in with us. There are currently 17 people living in my house and this video is a snapshot from a day in MY life. Heaven help us….

After yesterday’s post I decided that I need to re-affirm that I did enjoy parts of the Twilight experience so I did a quick sketch this morning of Edward Cullen. Nothing fancy, just a sketch.

OK, my wife and just about all of her friends had read the Twilight series. When the movie was about to hit the theaters I decided that I would jump on the bandwagon and see what it was all about. The books weren’t terrible, but they weren’t Harry Potter. It seemed like they always took the long way to get to a point, but that’s a different discussion. I want to talk about what happens to books that become movies.
We went and saw Despereaux and I really enjoyed that the book and the film were separate entities. I appreciated that the film adaptation evoked the feelings of the book without feeling compelled to retell the book line for line. I never made it out to the theater to see Twilight, but I just watched it on DVD. I think that the movie doesn’t stand on it’s own. The movie was like watching a cliff notes version of the book. They left holes and I never really felt that the relationship between Edward and Bella developed enough. When displaying his powers, the way that Edward stopped the van was great, but the scene with him running on his back was TERRIBLE! That scene was the beginning of the end for me, and it all started with Edward jumping out the door with Bella on his back and he turned to her and said, “You better hold on tight spider monkey”. ummm WHAT?!!?! wow, I am now officially going to use the phrase “Spider monkey” as a term of endearment.
The video is not the best quality, but it’s exactly the scene that I’m talking about.

Hey everybody! As I’ve been planning future projects I just keep coming back to the idea that I need to be making my own story and characters. I worked with a friend a while back to flesh out the basic details of the story and I think that it’s time to dust off those old ideas and make them into something. More information to follow….

So the contest over at SuperPunch has wrapped up and the winner is the Copper Kid from Silverhawks. Because John was good enough to sponsor the contest I went ahead and made one for him too.

As rumors about auditions for the Live Action TV series began to circulate, the gang over at Lightsabre have found a video to give us a taste of what the show could be like. Well, not really, but it’s fun. According to the article at Lightsaber, the deal that George Lucas made with 20th Century Fox would call for the original movie to be made into a weekly television series if the saga’s first big screen outing hadn’t been a success.

I’ve had such a good time doing this sketch cards that I’m definitely going to do it again. It’s been a great way to practice and to think of characters that I may not have thought of on my own. So here’s the last of the RebelScum free sketch cards. Mrs. Anakin Skywalker, and Mrs. Luke Skywalker.
