I Shot my Senator…

…with a video camera.   My sister Jennifer Brinkerhoff and her classmate Bridget Seeley are doctoral students at Arizona State University.  They are both studying Life-span development and psychology.  This semester they are enrolled in a class titled “Social Policy and Advocacy”.   Throughout the semester, the class has talked about the Arizona state budget, but the conversations have not always had a balanced perspective.

So, for their final class presentation, Jennifer and Bridget sought out some of the key decision makers in the state government for on-camera interviews to give equal time to the conservative perspective on why Arizona is in a budget crisis and how they hope to go about solving it.  They tried to take some of the questions that had come up in class and have the state representatives address them for themselves.  I helped them put together the presentation as we traveled to the state capital and met with the following individuals;

Senator Russell Pearce, Appropriations Chair- Senate District 18

Senator John Kavanaugh, Appropriations Chair- House of Representatives District 8

Senator Ron Gould, District 3

Senator Pamela Gorman, Senate Majority Whip, District 6

Holy crap.
That’s awesome to hear it straight from the mouths of our leaders.
It makes me wonder how in the world the “regular” citizen is supposed to get the truth.
I have long known that the media has a liberal bias…but holy mackerel cow, Jennifer.
I hope you will post this on youtube so that it gets the viewing that it needs to have.
I thought the “spending junkies” comment with the information about how imperative it is for us to make cuts was especially telling.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next 3-5 years as this continues to be an issue.
Another of my favorite quotes:
“It was freedom that made America great, not a government program”.

I really enjoyed that quote. It created this image of boatloads of anxious immigrants ready and willing to work and make their mark in the land of opportunity.

Isn’t it refreshing to hear honesty out of elected officials. What is disheartening is that these, very talented, young students can do the job the media is unwilling, unable or too corrupt to do. Liberals can’t speak clearly like these Conservative, because they are always spinning, squirming and avoiding the truth about their policies, agendas and most importantly their ultimate goal. A disarmed public living in a socialistic fascist state.
