Marvel Masterpieces III

I am pleased to announce that I have finished another 100 Sketch Cards for Marvel and all 100 were approved! I’ll be making a new button to the right of the screen to show off the cards, but until then here’s a couple of cards.

I tried to do something fun and show a “how-to” sort of process with the cards. So, I drew 20 character and made each character have a 5 step process to a completed sketch card.

Yo Gabba Gabba

Yo Gabba Gabba! is a children’s television series currently airing on the Nick Jr. and Noggin cable networks. It was created by Scott Schultz and Christian Jacobs. I met Christian when I was a missionary in Japan. He has been the superstar lead singer of The Aquabats since the band formed in 1994 and is known by the stage name The MC Bat Commander.

The series premiered August 20, 2007 on Nick Jr. and began broadcasting February 23, 2008 on Noggin and a whole new season premieres 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, on Nickelodeon.

It’s like Sesame Street, the Electric Compan, and HR Puff n’ Stuff. I’d heard about the show when it was in development, but haven’t ever caught a full episode. Here are some YouTube links.

Richard LeParmentier, who played Admiral Motti in Star Wars A New Hope, has written a screenplay about what happens to Admiral Motti after the Death Star Exploded. This is a bit from his website.

“Some of the voice tracks and some of the sound effects have now been recorded. Ken Colley has reprised his role as Captain Piett. I voiced Motti and Jerome Blake, who does the best Vader impersonation, has recorded Vader. Garrick Hagon and Jeremy Bulloch are lined up to do Troopers 3 and 4. We plan to add more actors from the films.

You’ll notice that he has lined up actors from the original movie and has asked for some help in the animation dept. I think that I might be able to help. Here’s a mock up that I did last night.

A day of Labor

When I sat down and mapped out what I needed to do on my various projects, I forgot to mark today as a day off. So my Labor day had a bit of labor to it. I started by finishing up some work on a website, which stopped working right when I was trying to finish it. You see, I was trying to wrap things up by 10:00 because my girls had invited all of their cousins over to make a movie for my Mom, who’s in the hospital. So, I worked with her last night to make a shot list and then make assignments for props so the day would go better. I guess when dealing with about 6 little girls under the age of 8 things could have gone worse.

We finished the taping, then I went with my brother to the hospital to visit, then we came home and there was another party starting. I’m so glad that I cleaned up the yard on Saturday.

Anyway, one of the things that my boy really wanted for his birthday was for me to make some sketch cards just for him. So at his special request I made Rex and Cody. I was feeling good about sketching so I followed that up with Hammerhead and Old Ben.

Blake the Movie Guy

My good friend Blake has found a way to get free movies. He’s an avid movie watcher, and well versed and well, he’s got an opinion about things too. He’s been asked to do movie reviews for an Arizona-based DVD/movie web site. He get free tickets to pre-screenings and then he writes about the movies. He’s asked that he not have to go to any super violent gore fests, so for this week he got stuck with “Disaster Movie”. hehehe. It sounds SOOOO GOOD! ;D
