Here they are, all freshly approved for display. I kept things up with the theme of “Six”. So like I said before I drew 6 cards of each character but only one is in color. Here’s the six cards of Dr. Octopus. You can see that they are all similar, but not exactly the same.

…to the site!
I’ve added a page for the videos. I thought it would be a nice quick reference to show off some of my work. One of these days I’ll finish off all the information on The BANDIT page.

I’m testing out some software from Digital Curiosity. I’ve got a new Star Wars animation that I’m working on and I’m going to be doing it all by myself. This software is supposed to automate the process of lip syncing. I don’t think that it does a perfect job, but it’s pretty good. I didn’t change or adjust the animation, this is the way that it came out of the software. Now to clarify a bit, I drew the character and then had to draw every mouth shape. I saved each mouth shape as it’s own drawing and then the software translates the wave file and assigns a mouth shape to a sound. The audio is me from an old project that was never funded.
*NOTE* I have hosted the video on a site called Revver. You may notice a pop-up box on the bottom of the video and then another ad on the end. It is through this advertising that they can provide their video hosting service and compensate their contributors.

I saw this on Cold Hard Flash and they attributed it to a post on Boing Boing. It looks like they’ve taken an image and mapped it to a 3D head and then added interactivity through Flash. Whew! Well, when it’s all said and done, it’s pretty creepy. I couldn’t get the flash file to embed into this post so click the image to behold the creepiness.

I’m gearing up for a new animation project (SURPRISE! It’s Star Wars related) and I wanted to add some more depth to my characters. So, I draw and create the characters in Flash and then export a PNG sequence to be compiled in Premiere. Before I bring in the sequence I’m experimenting with performing a batch render on the images to add an Inner Bevel to them. This will give the flat characters a shadow and a highlight. It’s not perfect for a 3D shaded character, but it can be a fairly automated process. The image below is the before and after of this process. I’ll have an animation test posted a bit later.

I’m closing in on completing my Sketch Cards for Upper Deck called “Marvel Masterpieces II”. In doing this set I decided to take a trip down memory lane and do some of my favorite characters from the Spider-man cartoon I watched as a kid. So I started with some Bad Guys. I did 6 sketch cards of each of these characters, but only one of them in full color. I thought that was a fun play on the Sinister Six, but also a fun way to make the cards a bit more collectible.
They are (of course) Kraven the Hunter, Vulture, Electro, Mysterio , Doctor Octopus, and Sandman.

I’m going to do some investigating to find out the name of the group that put on this event, but my son and I had a great time at the Jedi/stormtrooper training event. Watch at the end of the Stormtrooper training, he’s a very accurate shot!
